Medication Cleanout™ is a community project founded by the Safe Schools/Healthy Students Program with the Amarillo Independent School District and the Texas Panhandle Poison Center with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.  The first Medication Cleanout (MCO) event was September 12, 2009 in Amarillo, TX.  Since that time, there have been MCO events in Amarillo, Canyon, Dallas, and Richmond, VA.

The purpose of the project is to remove pharmaceuticals from homes, schools, and the streets.  Nationwide trends indicate that among teens, pharmaceutical abuse is second only to marijuana abuse.  Medication Cleanout™ is proactively safeguarding our communities by providing a convenient way for people to dispose of medicines in a free, legal, and environmentally-sound manner.

Medication Cleanout™

Prevent poisonings. Prevent abuse. Prevent misuse. Protect the environment.
